If you’re looking for cheap Taiwanese street food eats in the middle of nowhere, Smart N Save fits this description to a T. There is nothing remarkable nearby, mostly businesses that are industrial, but yet they are busy! If you’re wondering where you’ve heard the name, they do own a couple mini-grocery stores – including the one in Lansdowne Mall.

Their menu items range from $1-$5, which is pretty affordable. Since we were in the middle of the day and looking for a snack, we ordered just a couple items.

smart n save cafe fish ball curry

Curry fish balls, radish, pig skin $4 – Typically, you’ll see this at your local night market, but I’m willing to bet you haven’t had it with radish and pig skin. It’s not anything mind blowing, but a good mix.

smart n save cafe pepper mix

Fried Pepper, tofu, eggplant, with fish mince $5.50 – I’ve seen variations of this at dim sum, but you can’t go wrong with deep fried food. Again, nothing too mind blowing, but comforting.

smart n save cafe milk tea

Milk tea – Pretty standard here, the mug it was served in kept chilling the sides making it slushy, which was nice.

If you’re looking for a place in between meals that is cheap, it wouldn’t be a bad idea checking this place out.
