Thankfully, not too far away from where we stayed is a extremely popular place called 808 Deli. 808 Deli is located on Kihei Road in – you guessed it – Kihei. There is ample seating, but the view across it will beckon you back to the beach to eat your delicious finds.
Luckily, I had Nickie to navigate me through the mouthwatering menu, though it was still a tough decision. I went with the Toasted Wasabi ($8 – roast beef, tomato, onions, pepper jack and wasabi aioli) and Brian went with her recommendation of the Porkie ($9 – Hawaiian pork, mango salsa, pepper jack and sweet chili dipping sauce).
First of all – the toasted wasabi was great, it had all the right fixings of a great sandwich that hit the spot. The wasabi flavour was not too overpowering but complimented the rest of the sandwich.
But let’s talk about the Porkie. I’m not sure whether it’s the tender Hawaiian pork or the sweet mango salsa – but this sandwich is heavenly. It doesn’t need the sweet chili dipping sauce, but if you’re game go right on ahead and dip it!
808 Deli is a definite must try when you’re in Maui!
