A good friend and fellow lover of food recommended this place to me recently, and I really didn’t have much time to go by – it’s not very easily accessible by bus – located near East 1st and Renfrew – so my friend dropped one off to me! This is not a restaurant but a little grocery shop that sells fine Italian goods including pastas, baked goods, sauces and a deli.

At this deli you can score a fantastic sandwich under $5 where you choose your meats and cheese. This particular sandwich was stacked with proscuitto, mortadella, hot capicola and havarti on a soft hoagie bun.

At first glance, it doesn’t look so menacing and filling, but when you’re finished eating it, you’re pretty full. The meats and cheese pair well but you can literally choose whatever you feel like – I prefer my sandwiches a bit spicy so the hot capicola gave it the perfect amount of heat without it being uncomfortable to eat.

I’d definitely come back here for a cheap and delicious lunch – and also to check out the Italian items.
