Batard Boulangerie is a fabulous little spot on Fraser, a couple doors down from Earnest Ice Cream. Batard offers not only a cafe experience, but the ability to buy locally made jams, sausages, pastas, breads and much more.
My first time, I went for lunch. The staff is very friendly and approachable, and you feel like you’ve stepped into another country or time with the way they’ve put their beautiful boulangerie together.
I had the Tomato and Fennel soup and the Oyster Mushroom quiche.
The tomato and fennel soup is a nice slightly sweet soup that isnt too heavy for lunch. I ordered it in a cup, but you can order a larger portion in a bowl. It was enjoyable.
The Oyster Mushroom quiche is paired with some greens. I loved that the quiche is fluffy but dense enough to be filling. There isnt any overpowering flavours here, the mushroom flavour is subtle.
I’m looking forward to checking out their pastries and bread the next time I’m in!
