It’s finally happened and it was glorious. Beaucoup Bakery was definitely on my radar for a long time, but it was so difficult for me to find a reason to venture down that way. However, with an invite from Amy (Food Queen) to join her for ‘lunch’ – how could I say no?

Beaucoup Bakery is located on 6th and Fir, a stone’s throw away from 4th and also from Broadway. When I arrived, this small cafe was packed (and rightly so). There were pastries and cakes and the decision was far too tough. I went with a Cinnamon Scroll and a Pain au Chocolat. Another reason we wanted to meet up was to try out their Hot Chocolate Festival flavour: “The Intimate Act”.

This delicious milk chocolate is infused with passionfruit and served with a hazelnut cookie. Normally, I’m not a huge fan of fruit and chocolate in a drink, but this is perfect. It had a light, milky taste with just the right hint of passionfruit that made it so enjoyable. It wasn’t too heavy or too sweet to drink and I regrettably finished it really quick.

My Cinnamon Scroll was flaky, crispy and had a nice taste of cinnamon to it, it wasn’t too overly sweet so it was perfect. I can see this going really well with a coffee or cappuccino.

The Pain au Chocolat, which also comes in mini versions is fantastic here. Buttery, flaky and made with the best chocolate I’ve had in these pastries. It is quite a treat and I would have to say that this is my favourite place and the best place for Pain au Chocolat in Vancouver.

Amy ordered a latte and ordered two treats to try: Kouign Amann and the Peanut Butter Cookie.

Thank goodness she was here to recommend these because they are unbelievable.

First off, the Kouign Amann. It’s similar to puff pastry but doesn’t puff up like say, the pain au chocolat. One bite into it and it’s sweetness and butter flavour hits you. It’s not crumbly, more dense and still quite moist on the outside.

Next up, the Peanut Butter Cookie. Let me tell you now, I would have never thought to order this nor am I big fan of peanut butter in my pastries or cookies, but this cookie has made me a believer. It is still moist so it doesn’t crumble as much and the peanut butter buttercream filling in the middle is perfectly indulgent without being far too sweet. This is what I love about Beaucoup, is that the pastries you think are going to be intense and overly sweet and enjoyable and leaving you craving for more. Even though it’s a Friday night and 6pm and you’re about to eat dinner….Yes, I’m addicted. I loved it so much, I just had to bring some home to Brian because if yours truly, the non-peanut butter fan enjoyed it, I couldn’t imagine what Brian, the peanut butter lovin’ fan would enjoy it. And let me tell you, he definitely loved it and even said it was one of his favourite cookies in the city.

Finally, I ordered the Coffee Walnut Macaron Frais. This is by far the HUGEST macaron I have ever seen in my life. It’s about the size of a softball…or maybe even bigger. I can’t even tell. Due to it’s size, it was kind of amusing to try and eat – I kind of went at it like a hamburger (which became very messy). The walnuts are a nice touch to the coffee flavour. I suppose I could’ve shared this with others…but it’s really hard to let Beaucoup Bakery pastries go.

I will definitely have to come back here and introduce some of my friends to their newest obsession, because I know I have found mine!
