Blue Star Donuts is known for it’s high quality ingredients (for example: cage-free eggs, whole hormone-free milk, etc) and their brioche recipe that hails from the South of France.
The store located in downtown (1237 SW Washington St.) is clean, bright and very straight forward. Because their choices change daily, you’ll have to look at the counter for what’s on on the menu.
I ordered the Dulce de leche with hazelnut ($2.75) and Chocolate almond ganache ($3.25).
The Dulce de leche with sprinkled hazelnuts is a nice, dense donut that isn’t greasy but very rich in the dulce de leche flavour. The sprinkled hazelnuts give it a nice crunch.
The Chocolate almond ganache donut was my favourite – the ganache really makes this donut decadent and the perfect indulgent snack.
