Aloha Gastrofork readers! My first post on my recent vacation in Hawaii. What a great place, it’s got a little busy center of shops and good places to eat and you get to relax and enjoy blue sky, white sand and clear ocean! Perfect for someone like me who wants to get away but still misses city life.

Our first lunch was at the Cheesecake Factory located across the International Marketplace and a Macy’s and Forever 21. Here, if you come before 5pm they have lunch specials which are reduced prices while still getting 3/4s of the amount of food you would full price.

They start you off with two different breads- sour dough and …I’m not quite sure what the brown bread is but its got a sweeter and oat taste to it.

I ordered my favourite pasta, Evelyn’s Favourite which consists of broccoli, roasted eggplant, oven-dried tomatoes, artichoke, olives, pesto and pine nuts. – healthy pasta! But very tasty if you like drier pasta, if you want something with sauce, this isn’t the right one for you.

Maybe the one Brian ordered may suite those who like a little more sauce with their pasta: Spicy Chicken Chipotle. Talk about presentation! It looked so cool with its long tortilla strips. I had a little bit and it was spicy but not spicy enough to make me need some water. The chipotle sauce was sweet and smokey.

We finished our lunch and decided- when in Rome…ie, when in Cheesecake Factory- eat cheesecake! We ordered the Kahlua Cocoa Coffee cheesecake and IT WAS HEAVEN. The crust is made of brownie, then you got the middle with the cheesecake that has been infused with Kahula and then the top chocolate ganache which made every single bite feel like HEAVEN.

Overall, I like the consistency of every Cheesecake Factory I’ve been to, but I especially like their local flavours as well. The restaurant is big, clean and has a patio outside the “main” Waikiki street. The service is top notch and the value (especially for the cheesecake!) is great.

Food:
While I havent tried much else than their pastas and cheesecakes, I can tell you that these portions are huge. They taste delicious no matter what you order and you have such a huge variety of different food to order and two pages of different cheesecake to try!

Ambiance:
Every Cheesecake Factory looks the same, its got this European cafe feel to it with its stone flooring, wrot-iron fences, red curtains and warm orangey-earthy walls. They maintain the restaurant as it is very clean.

Value:
While some people think it is pricey to pay 14-15 for pasta (myself included) portions are the key here. It is possible for you to split a fullsized pasta with a friend and share a slice of cheesecake.

Service:
Our server was very friendly, came to speak with us often and always refilled our glasses. She also recommended two of her favourite cheesecakes without us having to ask. What great service!
