They have a great variety of different coffees to choose from that are socially responsible (preserving the environment, treating workers fairly) and participate in Direct Trade with their custom coffee roaster. They also participate in Direct Trade with their teas.
Their setup may remind you of a Starbucks, and it’s because this location used to be one. But I’m thinking because of the lack of foot traffic, Starbucks left. Their case has an assortment of pastries from danishes to croissants. They also offer sandwiches, salads and sweets as well.
I had the Smoked Salmon (with fried egg, pesto mayonnaise and swiss) croissant ($4.25 if you buy a drink) and the Jasmine tea. For what it was, it wasn’t too bad – the lady at the till offered to warm it up for me on their panini press.
It was pretty buttery and they really slather on the mayonnaise. I think they should add something to give this sandwich some kick like dill or maybe even a slice of cucumber to balance the flavours.
The Jasmine tea was brewed perfectly, it wasn’t too bitter from being too hot and had a great aroma. I’m particular about my teas and this was pretty good.
