Visiting the local Farmers Market, I came across Disco Cheetah Food Truck , serving up Korean-fusion styled dishes to the masses.

I tried the Korean Fried Chicken rice bowl ($11, added kimchi for $2). It comes with your choice of protein, multigrain rice, greens, pickled red cabbage, edamame, corn, scallion, fried onion and a vinaigrette dressing. Overall, I liked the amount of food given in this bowl – I find the problem with food trucks is that most of the times there’s not enough substance to justify the price, but this one has good weight to it. There’s a healthy portion of every item. I’m not too big a fan of the multigrain rice, as I found it a bit on the softer-mushier side. The chicken is delicious – crispy and tender, but I feel like it could use a bit more sauce, or maybe have the sauce on the side for extra dipping and flavour.

I also tried the KFC Fries ($11) – crispy fries topped with sweet chili glaze, pickled red radish, scallion, garlic mayo and of course, Korean fried chicken. The KFC Fries were ok, the fries were nice and crispy and also seasoned. I liked the amount of sauce (garlic mayo and chilli) in this dish compared to the rice bowl, but I feel like the amount given overall is a little bit on the small side for the price. The flavour throughout the fries was good and the pickled red radish cut nicely through the heavier flavours.

I definitely want to check out their physical location downtown and their 1lb wrap next time I’m in the area.
