Anyway if it wasn’t for Nathalie’s recommendation- I wouldn’t have gone to try the donuts (which by the way, are great- more dense and cakey than the half-baked Tim Hortons ones and not as ‘processed’ tasting as the Starbucks kind). Even more so, I noticed on Foursquare tips to try to tortas.
So after Brian got off work, we decided to try it out for dinner. When we entered, it was pretty busy. There were a lot of hispanics eating here and being partly hispanic myself, that usually means the food can’t be all that bad! While we were trying to figure out what to order, I noticed that they sold Pupusas here – perhaps they’re Spanish owned?
We finally decided on our tortas – I got the beef (the first one on the menu) and Brian got the BBQ chicken one. She took our order, gave us our receipt and we sat down to wait for our food. It didn’t take long – not even five minutes and our tortas were nice and hot.
The beef was definitely marinated prior to, it had a great flavour to it – salty but not too salty. It reminded me of the tapas my dad makes. Inside the crusty roll was lettuce, avocado and tomato. While the size of the sandwich is fairly standard, the inside is quite filling.
Brian’s BBQ Chicken torta had the same avocado, lettuce and tomato but he also had banana peppers (which are one of my favourite things in the world to eat!). The taste of grilled chicken was good and if I had to choose between both…I don’t think I could!
From this new discovery, we have now found a place we can stop by since it’s open 24 hours if we’re hungry!
