San Francisco is many things- a foodie mecca, a multicultural haven and by and large, a tech city. All the great big companies are situated in and around the city – from Twitter to Google, Pinterest to Zynga.
Many are walkable around the city, but some you’ll have to drive out into Palo Alto and the silicon valley to experience.
Asides from the tech giants, one of the most notable universities- Stanford is also located not too far away from the city.
I was lucky to have one of my friends graduate from Stanford and she was willing to show us around. You never truly understand and feel the importance of American universities until you see one for yourself. Stanford has so much history and is so well kept, its practically jaw dropping.
You could get lost in just the quad area for hours and I felt I gained a couple IQ points just roaming around (not really, but I’ll pretend I did!).
After our tour of Stanford, we made our way to Facebook and Google. While there is not much to see at Facebook, Google’s campus had a lot more to offer.
We were able to walk around the campus outdoor pretty easily. There are the google bikes everywhere that anyone can use to navigate through the campus.
They’ve also temporarily moved their Android Mascots – which are the perfect photo ops!
I almost find it kind of odd that the security within these big companies seems pretty lenient. We spent a good deal walking around Googleplex, including an area that had a cafeteria and a large dinosaur skeleton.
