McDonald’s finally released their Ghost Pepper McChicken as of today and of course, I just had to try it. I first tried the Jalapeno and Habanero which were good in terms of starting heat, but I wanted to see how the ghost pepper would stack up!
Once you open up the packaging, you get a whiff of the ghost pepper sauce which is more apparent than the previous two spicy McChickens. The burger has ghost pepper sauce on either side of the breaded chicken patty and leaves a more noticeable, lingering heat in your mouth once you’ve had a couple bites. The ghost pepper sauce is definitely more pronounced, slightly smokey and peppery which makes for a good burger. In terms of heat, it is much spicier than the Jalapeno and Habanero but I’d put it in the range of 6/10 for heat. It is a lingering heat that builds up though, so you may feel it gets spicer as you continue eating your burger.
Of the three burgers, I’d say this is my favourite. It’s got a really nice kick to it without it trying to burn your face off and make your meal unenjoyable. It’s a nice way to spice things up during lunch or dinner!
