During our final hours in Las Vegas, we were thinking of a spot to eat before we leave. I automatically voted for one of my favourite places – Grand Lux Cafe in Venetian.

Why do I like this place? It’s got a comfortable but elegant feel to it, the food is good and the servings are always big.

Whenever I come here there is a line, no matter what time of the day. Grand Lux is open 24 hours a day – so if you’re looking for good food at 4 in the morning – look no further.

Today we decided to have brunch. I ordered “The Best” Eggs Benedict with Ham & Hollandaise. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly, telling us some stories about the cafe. Originally, the Grand Lux was supposed to be a Cheesecake Factory but the owners wanted something more ‘swanky’.

Our server also was saying the reason why the Eggs Benny is called “The Best” is because ZAGAT came in and rated it the best in the country. Wow, really? I was actually thinking of ordering Huevos Rancheros – but after that pitch, I was curious to see if this claim was true.

They also have Fried Chicken and Waffles here – but I was put off by the fact it was made with just chicken strips.

I ordered a Mimosa ($8.50)  to compliment my brunch – all juices (asides from pomegranate) are freshly squeezed. This meant my Mimosa had some delicious freshly squeezed orange juice. Yum.

Pomegranate (Left) and Grapefruit (Right) .

They have huge sized Tabasco sauce. Me gusta.

The Eggs Benedict ($12.95) came in a big platter. Our server asked if I wanted to share with my best friend – but I declined..however, if I had known it was going to be this big, I might’ve changed my mind. The breakfast muffin is almost as big as a bagel, there are two slices of ham and unfortunately my eggs were exploded before I took a picture of it. The hollandaise sauce is creamy, smooth and buttery. Did you know that Hollandaise sauce is one of the most difficult sauces to make?

Anyway, the ham is fresh, the hollandaise is creamy, my egg unfortunately is leaky but the bread is still crispy. It’s easy to say that this is the best Eggs Benny I’ve had, hands down.

There is some hash browns on the side, which are fine – but after eating both, you probably wont even be able to finish the hash.

Brian and Bren both ordered the Lux Breakfast Sandwich ($10.95) which includes scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, grilled tomato, havarti cheese and mayo served on grilled brioche bread.

Our server described it to us as a tastier version of “Moons over my hammys” – a Denny’s classic – but I kind of wish he didn’t try to pitch it to us that way – because it doesn’t compare to this sandwich.

I had a bit and the bread is soft and buttery, the inside is full of egg, bacon and ham – but the tomato cleaned the taste of the combined grease. I cannot even begin to describe how fantastic this sandwich is.

It is also a big meal – come hungry or bring a friend.

Food:
I have no complaints about my food, it was absolutely delicious. The hash browns were meh, though.

Service:

Our server was so helpful, he came back to check on us often and shared some great insights to the restaurant and meals.

Value:

It’s a little on the pricey side here, but still fairly affordable for the amount of food you get.
