We recently visited the new Johnny Rockets that opened up on Oak and Broadway. Johnny Rockets is a fast food chain from the US that was established back in 1986 on a mission to build a better, quality burger. Their burgers are 100% fresh and never frozen certified Angus Beef.

The space is very nice, clean and spacious – very family friendly. We were also impressed with the genderless bathrooms they provided (and how clean they were).

We ordered the Rocket Single, Cheese fries and Hershey’s Chocolate Milkshake (approximately $17 with an extra pop drink).

The Rocket Single is made with Wisconsin cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and their special sauce. The cheddar cheese is a tastier addition to the burger compared to most burger joints that use processed cheese and the burger patty is not too salty. Overall the burger is ok, a bit underwhelming – more of the special sauce is probably needed to up the flavour.

The Cheese fries are hand cut and quite crispy. It’s topped with real cheddar cheese sauce and shredded Wisconsin cheddar cheese. Overall, these are probably one of the best cheese fries you’ll find at a fast food joint. The fries are cooked nicely and not too salty.

The Hershey’s Chocolate Milkshake is made with premium ice cream and real whipped cream – while most places using Hershey’s chocolates tend to be quite sweet, this particular milkshake isn’t overly sweet. When we received it, it was too thick to drink but once you let it melt, it tastes very much like a nice, heavy chocolate ice cream.
