The Wallflower Cafe is located on Main just a little past Broadway (right across the street from Goh Ballet Academy). We went here one chilly December night on a recommendation from my sister.

The restaurant is very long and narrow, with one side being a bar seating and the other side for dining. The wallpaper is amazing and they also display local art. I heard the brunch is one of the best in town, so I’ll have to come back and try it.

When we arrived, it was busy so we had to wait about 20 minutes. We were seated immediately after and my poor parents felt a little out of place. The majority of the people in the cafe were in their 20s. But my sister and I told them not to worry so much about it.

My sister ordered Hummus & Eggplant Dip for starters, unfortunately I didn’t get a good picture of it (candle lighting + iPhone is not a good combination). The flatbread was more like crisps, served with hummus on one end and eggplant dip on the other. The eggplant dip was very delicious, it had a bit of a tangy-spicy taste to it that really tantalized the appetite.

My sister ordered the Shrimp Bacon Avocado Wrap, which was huge! It was served with a side of fries but looked absolutely tasty.

My husband ordered the Canuck burger which had sauteed mushrooms, onions, bacon and cheddar with a thousand island sauce. I didn’t get to try his burger.

My father ordered the special they had that evening, unfortunately, I don’t remember exactly what it was called but it looked like a mix of beef dip and sloppy joes, with green peppers, beans and cheese melted on the top.

I ordered the Wallflower burger which had eggplant spread, cucumber and havarti cheese and it was SO GOOD. I don’t know whether it was a mix of the havarti spices and the eggplant spread, but it was definitely a great tasting burger.

Overall, the food was good, I definitely want to come back here for brunch!

Food – 3.5 FORKS
The food was flavourful but really nothing out of the ordinary.

Service – 3 FORKS
I dont really mind waiting too long for a table, especially when its busy, but no one really came to check up on us until the very end to take our plates and give us the bill. I’m not complaining, some times its good to not have anyone bother you while you’re busy eating, but if you’re looking for being pampered throughout the entire meal, you might want to think of going elsewhere.

Value – 4 FORKS
The prices are fair and the amount of food given is decent as well.

Ambiance – 4 FORKS
The cafe is beautiful. Their wallpaper is dizzying but pretty, and you feel right at home when you sit down.
