Rocky Mountain Flatbread is participating in the Dine Out Vancouver festival again this year – they’re offering a $25 3-course menu. What I love about Rocky Mountain Flatbread is that they use items that are already on their menu, so you’ll be enjoying their actual menu (as opposed to places who make up dishes only for the fest). Rocky Mountain Flatbread is well known for using local and organic produce, sustainable seafood and meats. Along with catering to many different types of diets (gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, nut free, etc) – this is the perfect spot for a nice, casual meal when dealing with different dietary restrictions (also very family friendly!).
Rocky Mountain Flatbread is a staple in their each of their communities: the EarthBites program supports local elementary (and now high schools) and community gardens. EarthBites manages garden space and workshops to encourage students to eat what’s fresh during the seasons.
We were invited to preview their Dine Out Menu recently! Here are our thoughts:
You’ll start your meal off with a delicious curry chocolate from Koko Monk. It’s made with raw chocolate – you won’t find any additional sugar in it. The flavour is interesting, the curry is not too powerful and the nice crisp of the chocolate gives it a nice balance of sweetness.
The Paloma Mocktail. I love Palomas, they’re very refreshing! They’re made with pink grapefruit juice, lime and a simple syrup mixed with soda. You can make it boozy by adding tequila or vodka to it for an extra price. It’s a great palate-cleanser.
You then move on to a variety of different appetizers, like the BC Mushroom Caps, soups or salads.
My favourites were the BC Mushroom Caps (filled with Bacon, Leek & Cheddar – they have several other options though including vegetarian ones) and the Beet & Goat Cheese Salad. Each portion is a good amount to start off the meal.
Next up the entrees – you can choose any pizza or pasta off their menu.
Some of my favourite pizzas were:
Pesto Shrimp – made with Ocean Wise shrimp, tomato sauce, mozza, red onions, artichoke, three herb pesto and Asiago. It’s a sweet, salty and savoury pizza that isn’t too heavy to enjoy.
Chorizo and Cod – made with local Chorizo, Pan Seared Ocean Wise Cod, bell peppers, red onions, sun dried tomatoes, mozzafina di latte, green onions and spicy tomato sauce. It had a good balance of saltiness from the meats and slight sweetness from the peppers and red onions.
Farmers Market – made with seasonal vegetables, three herb pesto, Capriny goat cheese on a tomato sauce with mozza. Fresh flavour throughout every bite.

My favourite pasta was the Penne Bolognese – made with slow cooked organic BC Beef, tomato sauce and organic penne with shaved parmesan on top. I love the density of this dish. It is a nice, heavier option with great flavour from the bolognese sauce. It was more on the chunkier side (how I like my pasta sauce, to be honest!).
Finally, dessert. There is an assortment as well, but we tried the Warm Double Chocolate Brownie and Vegan Apple Crumble.
The Warm Double Chocolate Brownie is created with Callebaut chocolate and served with whipped cream and house made vanilla ice cream. This dessert is decadent – the brownie is fudgey but crispy on the exterior. It paired well with the ice cream to cut the heaviness. This is a must order for me when I’m at Rocky Mountain Flatbread!
We also tried the Vegan Apple Crumble that’s made with local apples and paired with coconut ice cream. Delicious and a nice, light way to finish off the meal.
The Dine Out menu is available during Lunch and Dinner.
