Nathalie and I were in the area (shopping at T&T) when we decided to grab a quick lunch at the Pink Elephant Thai location in the plaza where Cambie and Marine Drive meet. The space is smaller than the other Pink Thai downtown, but still very much the same aesthetic.

The restaurant was fairly busy, but we were seated pretty quickly. They have lunch from Monday to Friday from 11-3pm and they do have a $10 lunch combo which is quite affordable. Their mini set meals come with a veggie spring roll, green salad and steamed Thai jasmine rice.

Nathalie ordered the Pad Thai (made with tamarind sauce) and I ordered the Thai Matsaman Curry.

Nathalie’s pad thai was a good portion for lunch. Interestingly, the pad thai was served with the bean sprouts, green onion and peanuts on the side of the tossed noodles (although there were bean sprouts and peanuts mixed in the noodles as well). The noodles were a bit on the overcooked side- they were chewy. The flavour was ok.

My curry wasn’t so bad – I ordered it with beef and it was a good portion. Flavour was fine, I wish the curry was a bit thicker. The cashews added a nice crunch, but the potatoes were overcooked as well.

For $10, its not a bad meal but not the best Thai food I’ve had.
