Red Burrito opened up in the old Shishinori spot on Cambie and 7th. Red Burrito has been around for a long time – I remember visiting the one location they had on Robson back when I was in high school…a long, long time ago in a galaxy far away.
It’s been a while since I’ve been to Red Burrito and I’d like to think my taste in food has improved (but according to some naysayers, it’s worsened given my penchant for fast food).
I ordered a Burrito Bowl with Spicy chicken and all the fixings – its a hefty bowl and perfect if you’re super hungry – I couldn’t finish the whole thing. The flavours are good, the veggies were still crisp and the beans and chicken were perfectly cooked. The amount of spice is a good one – probably mild-medium, but I do love my heat.
To wash it all down, I ordered a Horchata. Pretty standard and not too bad at all.
Red Burrito’s pricing is comparable to its competition nearby (Chipotle), so it’s a good alternative if Chipotle is too busy. They also have tamales if you love those!
The space is small, so it’s best to take it to go.
