Restaurant Australia Reception at Vancouver International Wine Festival 2015

The Vancouver International Wine Festival wrapped up a couple weeks ago with Australia being the theme country this year. Not only is Australia a phenomenal place to visit (it’s high up there on my list of places to visit!), they are a force to reckon with when it comes to delicious eats and an enormous amount of wine options.

Nathalie joined me on my journey today to check out the Australian wines and I had to keep my jaw from dropping to the floor as to how many wines were being featured during the event (and I’m sure this is just scratching the surface).

Besides the rows of wines just waiting to be discovered, there was also great eats at the event – which were by far the nicest spread I’ve seen at an event for a long time!

I always find these types of events helpful because I walk into the liquor store and get overwhelmed by all the great choices I have! Yes, there is always someone there who can help you out, but you can’t really be sure what will really suit your palate unless you’ve tasted it. I walked away from this event with a better idea of what I enjoy, what I don’t enjoy and some new favourites that will go on my wine rotation.

Here are some of the wines Nathalie and I got to try that we really enjoyed throughout the event (all photography by Nathalie de los Santos):

Penfolds Chardonnay was definitely one of my favourites – available in BC Liquor Stores ($15.99).

Turkey Flat Vineyard’s Rose was also another favourite of mine – doesn’t look like it’s available here yet!
