On a chilly winter evening, Nathalie, Liane and I decided to meet up for dinner in Yaletown. I’m not entirely sure where we were supposed to go but they were closed and so we decided to head to Salsa and Agave.

Nathalie and I ordered Azteca Soup ($4 small, $7.50 large) – served with chipotle pepper, diced avocado cheese and house sour cream. It was a nice way to start off the meal, it had a bit of a spicy kick to it.

Liane ordered tacos, they’re $2.50 each or 4 for $9.50. It comes with a couple fixings on the side, but you could probably eat them as is, as they’re quite tasty on their own.

I ordered the Carnitas burrito ($9.50) – which is a huge serving that I couldn’t finish (close, but no cigar!). It’s served with sour cream and pickled jalapeños on the side. This monstrosity could definitely feed two people. The meat inside is nice, tender and flavourful. The rice and cheese added weight to this burrito.

For desserts we ordered the Flan de Cafe ($4.50) and Pastel De Tres Leches ($4.50).

The Flan de Cafe tasted almost like the Leche Flan my parents make at home during Christmas, but less sweet. This flan is more dense and heavier as well.

The Pastel De Tres Leches was my favourite dessert of the evening. This three milk cake is made in Central and South American tradition. It’s very moist, dense and slightly sweet. I definitely felt quite satisfied after eating it!
