I’ll have to hand it to Brian and his friends who find good, cheap hole-in-the-walls. Silver Tower Cafe is just that – I’ve gone past it several times on Alexandra Road but never thought to stop in. Like many restaurants down the iconic Alexandra Road, it stays open pretty late – 3am. Since Brian and I have the habit of eating late in the evening, we’re always on the hunt for places that are open late that satisfies our hunger.

Silver Town Cafe has an interesting vibe to it in the way that it’s your typical Hong Kong style cafe but it’s got circus-like stripes at the back where the kitchen is located.  The menu is typical of what you’d find at other HK Style cafes – an item with a drink, choose 2-3 items/proteins served with carbs and a drink, etc.

This evening I ordered something Liane had introduced me to do recently which is Fish Fillet in Corn Sauce. The portion is large, considering I had the mini version. The fish is breaded and then slathered in corn and sauce over rice. The fish had a bit of a fishy taste to it, but nothing too unpleasant.

Brian ordered the Baked Pork Chop in Tomato Sauce and it was also a typical sized portion. The baked pork chop was boneless, nice and crispy. The tomato sauce is sweet but not overly so and there is a nice sprinkle of cheese to this baked dish. His dish came with with soup (cream or borscht) and a drink. We ordered Yin Yeung (HK Style Coffee Milk Tea) and it was good, not too sweet.

I’d definitely come back here if I was craving this type of food in the middle of the night.
