As you know by now, I had a baby boy this past June. We stayed a week in BC Women’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) – specifically their Rabbit Pod. The Rabbit Pod enabled me to be with my family during the week in the same room so both baby and I could get cared for. The nurses, doctors and technicians were all very kind and helped us out tremendously through that difficult week. That being said, I have a special place in my heart for BC Women’s and Children’s Hospital and there is a fundraising event coming up soon called Sip and Savour that benefits the NICU.

Sip and Savour is presented by numpfer. With more than 250 expected guests, the event will be hosted by Tamara Taggart on November 19th, 2018 at the Pipe Shop in North Vancouver. Previous Sip and Savour events raised over $90k purchasing an incubator and a phototherapy system for newborns suffering from jaundice. The goal this year is to raise $50k to purchase a neonatal ventilator.

For many premature and critically ill babies in the NICU, respiratory support is essential. BC Women’s NICU can treat and care for babies born as early as 23 weeks – at this incredibly delicate stage of life, mechanical ventilation is a critical component of care.

At Sip and Savour you’ll find food and drinks from Minami, The Arbor, Juniper, The Mackenzie Room, TUC Craft Kitchen and more. There will be a silent auction with more than 50 items for this great cause.
