There are board games you can play with friends, a library of Choose Your Own Adventure books and merch to commemorate your stay.
The menu itself is a manual, which is super cool. My nerdy lady party this evening included Amy (Food Queen), Diana (Foodology) and Kirsty (Eating with Kirby).
We started off with Chickpea Fries (gluten free y’alls!) – $6. Akin to french fries but made with chickpeas served with vegan gravy. These are ridiculously huge, I wasnt expecting them to be this big! They were yummy and not what I was expecting at all. I wouldn’t mind having these over fries any day.
Amy ordered Mead (Tugwell Creek – $6.50) – it was quite nice, light and sweet.
Diana ordered the Wolverine ($9) – it’s made with Maple whiskey, butter schnapps, frothy cream in an adamantium mug with a stick of crisp Canadian bacon. To me, it tasted like I was drinking smokey maple syrup, but if you’re into whiskey I think you might enjoy this drink more than I did.
I decided to get the Random Shots – it’s $5 to roll a 20-sided die to pick my shot. I rolled a 3 and received the Jack Burton (Jack Daniels and Lager).
Kirsty ordered the Crow Burger with gluten free bread ($9) made with chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, dijon, mayo and onion.
Diana ordered the Thunder Burger ($8) which is basically the storm burger with a couple of upgrades. It has a 6 oz patty served with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, sun-dried tomato aioli, bbq honey sauce, smoked provolone chese and a crispy bacon strip in a Portguese bun. She had a salad on the side ($3).
Amy ordered the Elvish Veggie Burger Supreme with Daiya vegan cheese ($8 + $2) – the patty was made of chickpeas, lentils and rice. The burger has roasted corn, black beans, tomatoes and a salsa verde and veganaise sauce.
Finally,I ordered the Barbaric Beef Stew ($8) – a “savage” stew made of roasted potatoes, yams, onions, carrots, butternut squash and beef. There is also a side of garlic bread to accompany it. The stew was ok, but nothing too exciting. I thought it was nice that it was chunky and all, but very little ‘stew’ to it.
Afterwards, we played a couple rounds of Jenga which…was very stressful! Come here to drink and hang out with friends, as most taverns are for. If you come with that mentality, you’ll have a good time.
Food:
While the chickpea fries were amazing, the rest of the fare were just ok.
