The double cleansing method uses an oil-based cleanser to get rid of oil basied impurities and then finishing off with a water-based cleanser to remove impurities that are left behind on the skin.
Then I Met You products uses high concentrations of natural ingredients and avoids parabens, synthetic colouring, fragances and denatured alcohol and mineral oil.
The Double Cleansing Method consists of two of their products: Living Cleansing Balm and the Gel Cleanser.
The Living Cleansing Balm is pleasant in smell and is a vibrant yellow-orange colour. It blends grape seed, olive and seaberry oils and has hints of rosemary, persimmon and grapefruit.
To use it, you use the spatula that comes with the balm and scoop a bit onto your skin and gently massage. After, you splash warm water to emulsify and remove oil-based impurities.
Step Two is their Soothing Tea Cleansing Gel. It uses fermented rice water and plant-based antioxidants with antibacterials to help keep your pores clean. This gel is brown in colour and is gentle (pH of 6) with a very, very mild scent of herbal licorice root and mandarin citrus.
Overall, I find that my skin is quite clean after every use. I like the gentle but effective ingredients in the products. My old skin care method left my skin feeling dry and tight – which I thought was synonymous with being clean – but I was wrong! I break out less using Then I Met You. I wish this was around during my teen years, where I cycled through some pretty terrible things for your skin. I can’t undo years of bad skin care choices, but I can go forward in the right direction.
I’d definitely recommend Then I Met You – it’s not currently available in Canada, so you would have to have a friend bring it up for you from the US (when the borders open up again anyway). I do hope they decide to cross the border because I think they’d do great up here!
