To kick off this year, we checked out our favourite neighbourhood haunt Trafiq. If you haven’t been, you should put it in your to do list – their cakes are amazing!
This year for the fest, they’re offering several flavours. The week we attended they were serving Izanagi & Izanami and Shiva & Parvati.
Izanagi & Izanami is their Japanese inspired drink made with Hamasaen matcha, 34% Cacao Barry Zéphyr white chocolate and pistachio. The hot chocolate is a nice balance of matcha and white chocolate, not too sweet and a great matcha flavour to it (not too bitter). It’s served with a beautiful mini matcha opera cake that’s dense but fluffy.
The Shiva & Parvati is the Indian inspired drink created with dirty chai with in-house blend of spices, Columbian single origin 85% chocolate and mixed in with a double shot of espresso. I love the mixture of spice and sweetness when it comes to hot chocolates and this one is the perfect blend. It’s paired with a mini Chai Cheesecake that is not too sweet but a nice addition to the hot chocolate overall.
