Red Door Bistro, tucked away in Whistler Creekside, is truly a gem for intimate dining with an unforgettable mix of French and West Coast flavors. I was lucky enough to secure a reservation, which can sometimes take months due to the restaurant’s popularity. Chef RD Stewart’s expertise shines through in every dish, and I savored every bite of the evening’s special—steamed mussels from Salt Spring Island. The mussels were fresh and delicious, with a sauce so rich and flavorful that we ordered extra bread just to soak up every last drop.

Among my top recommendations are the Cambozola & Mushrooms, a dish that combines mixed mushrooms sautéed in garlic oil with crispy polenta cakes, fresh arugula, and truffle oil, all tied together by a drizzle of port syrup. The blend of textures and flavors was outstanding. The West Coast Bouillabaisse was another highlight, featuring prawns, mussels, scallops, and fresh fish in a beautifully balanced tomato, fennel, and saffron broth, accompanied by piquillo pepper aioli and a grilled baguette.

For my next visit, I’m planning to try the highly recommended Duck Confit Spring Rolls, a local favorite that’s earned a reputation for being an absolute must-have.
