If you’re looking for a place to getaway from the city in an evening, Yale Saloon might just be the answer.yalesaloon-173504

As soon as you walk in, you’re transported to a Western complete with bull riding, line dancing lessons, good old warbly country music and good old fashioned BBQ inspired by the flavours from the South.

I was invited recently by the Yale Saloon to check the space our and experience the Backyard BBQ.  The Backyard BBQ is made for 4 people, so bring a couple friends. The experience costs $35 each and requires at least 4 people to participate.

There’s Andouille Sausage, Smoked Turkey, Brisket, Rotisserie Chicken and Pulled Pork. It’s served with coleslaw, potato salad, baked beans and jalapeño cornbread.

The brisket and ribs were the most memorable, they had a good smokey taste to it while being pretty tender. The sausage has a good smokey taste to it as well. The rotisserie chicken was a lot tender than I thought it would be. Overall, the meat was great!

The coleslaw and potato salad felt like it needed a bit more seasoning, but it was nothing salt, pepper and hot sauce couldn’t fix.  I liked the jalapeño cornbread – it was dense but soft and buttery.

We also tried deep fried pickles – which were deep fried as wedges and they had a good amount of breading without being too overwhelming.

I also had Pa’s Caesar to drink – it had a really nice bite to it that I liked!

Disclosure: I was invited by the Yale Saloon to try their food and my meal was paid for, however all opinions are my own.
