I recently visited Trattoria in Burnaby – they’re owned by the Glowbal Group and have a couple locations throughout Vancouver. It’s been a while since I’ve had pasta, so I was looking forward to this meal!

The space in Trattoria is nice – tall ceilings and we were placed inside a private room since we were there for a birthday party. They also have a small, but nice patio outside facing Kingsway.

What I do like about Trattoria is how family-friendly they are. They have a kids menu that’s $7.95 and 5 items to choose from.

trattoria burnaby short rib pappardelle

I ordered the Short Rib Pappardelle ($19.95). The dish consists of braised short ribs, pine nuts, wild mushrooms and cafe au lait. The dish is a good size and I was surprised how much short rib was in the dish. There were some crispy bits and for the most part, it was tender – but there were some dry spots as well. The pine nuts gave it a good crunch.

trattoria burnaby spaghetti and meatballs

Brian ordered Spaghetti & Signature Meatballs ($20.95) made with spicy tomato basil sauce and herbed ricotta. He liked the sauce, but we were joking that the portion size of his was the same as my nephew’s (who ordered Spaghetti Bolognese).

Overall, the service is good and prompt here. They do have specials on Tuesday where all pastas are $13 – I’d check it out on the Tuesday if you can!
