In terms of the spa experience, they’re a little more laid back here than most spas. It seemed like a fair balance between women and men at this spa and it looked like most people were here for a massage. The spa is clean and well maintained and there is a nice area that has seating and tables where you can relax before your service. They also have a lounge area with comfortable leather seating.
Liane and I both went with their Hydrotherapy treatment – which is a little different than what’s advertised on their website (I’m guessing they haven’t updated it but it includes different aromatherapy to choose from and a scalp massage). However ours was different.
We had a charcoal-like bath, which is actually pretty interesting looking. The space is a nice, large soaker tub, a massage table and their Eucalyptus steam shower. The soaker tub is filled with the charcoal bath and they turn on the jacuzzi in it so that you’re sitting in it feeling like you’re in a boiling vat of charcoal ramen (I just needed some noodles!).
The good? I liked that the bath had no overpowering smell, as many spas do and it’s off putting. Our spa specialist was very friendly and helpful.
The bad? I really wished they had told us before we went for our treatment that they wouldn’t recommend us bathing or swimming after the treatment – we would’ve went for the steam shower or sauna beforehand if we knew.
I didn’t really find that the staff went over and beyond as most spas seem to do, but perhaps it’s just the atmosphere of the male centric environment that justified their laid back type of service.
Overall, the spa was enjoyable but I don’t feel like I’d come back again to this particular Absolute Spa. I’d like to check out another one to kind of see if the service is similar.
