With Valentines Day just around the corner, if you’re a last minute planner it can be a hectic time. Luckily for you, there is so much going on in the city that you have lots to choose from. Here are my ideas of what to experience, eat and do for this year!

Head up to Whistler, dine at Christines and check out the Fire & Ice Show – Yeah you could go a restaurant and watch a movie this weekend, but how about dining at the top of a mountain in a fabulous restaurant and watching an exciting show where riders jump through a ring of fire with a fireworks display at the end? Every Sunday Whistler Blackcomb Screen Shot 2016-02-08 at 11.57.31 AMoffers the Fire & Ice Show at 6:30pm. Christine’s is newly open at the top of the mountain and offers a breathtaking view, check out my recent review here.

Treat your Valentine to a Chocolate Cave at Notch8 – Notch8’s private dining room will be transformed into a Chocolate cave, featuring floor-to-ceiling custom built chocolate covered walls and an amazing selection of chocolate desserts. Over 25 different sweets that include a dark chocolate fountain, mocha macarons, hand-formed truffles and much more served with a glass of champagne. Ok – sign me up right now.

Dine at one of Vancouver’s most romantic spots – L’Abattoir – I consider L’Abattoir one of the most romantic places to dine in the city. This year, they’re offering a four-course dinner in the private dining room – this dinner includes oysters, smoked duck breast, braised short rib and Black Forest gateaux and wine pairings throughout each course. Amazing!
Dinner starts at 7pm, tickets are $145 per person (plus 18% gratuity) that is taxes and wine pairings all in._DSC0260

Indulge your Valentine in Faubourg Treats – Faubourg makes sweet Parisian treats that make for a great coffee date or a nice gift. The Macaron Heart is my choice – a heart
shaped macaron filled with dark chocolate mousse, salted caramel centre and fresh raspberries.

Stay in and create a gourmet meal with Fresh Prep – I love dining out, but nothing beats an amazing home cooked meal. If you’re not particularly kitchen-inclined or don’t have the time to whip up a gourmet meal, Fresh Prep can help. They portion off all the items you need to put together a nice meal and conveniently have a Valentines Day special. Check out my review for it here.
