One of the closer pubs to my home, East Side Craft House is located on 41st and Knight Street. We visited here recently to start off Nathalie’s birthday. We came on a Friday night, when they also do Trivia, so the place was packed. It’s always interesting to see what kind of crowd pubs attract and interestingly enough, East Side Craft House had a big range of ages.
Also, if you’re into sports, they have lots of TVs playing different types of games, so you’ll be thoroughly entertained. They also have Daily Features and a rotating tap list.
For dinner, i ordered the Bacon Cheddar Burger ($12.95) – topped with smoked bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, their signature burger sauce and their homemade six ounce beef patty between a brioche bun. I ordered a side salad with it.
The beef patty was pretty good, it wasn’t too salty and crispy on the edges, which I like in a burger. The burger as a whole was a little on the dry side, I think it needed more of their burger sauce. But overall, good because it wasn’t super greasy.
My side salad was pretty standard: mixed greens and a couple slices of radish, julienne carrots and tomatoes. There was a generous amount of dressing, so it had a good, tangy taste to it.
Brian ordered the Mushroom and Swiss Burger ($12.95) – served with sauteed mushrooms, Swiss on a six ounce homemade beef patty, lettuce, tomato, burger sauce and the brioche bun. The burger was good too, the patty was consistent – crispy on the edges and juicy in the middle. Brian decided to upgrade to poutine and they give a pretty good portion.
I think if my burger had Brian’s mushrooms, and his burger had my bacon both our burgers would be so good!
