The Vancouver Christmas Market is back! From November 22 until December 24th, the market boasts authentic German items from hand made crafts, decorations, food and festivities.

Disclosure: I was invited to the media preview and were given vouchers for food (however, paid for anything extra), but opinions are my own.

New this year is the 2 for 1 Lunch Pass which you can print and present at the VIP counter from Monday-Friday 11am-2pm.

I’ve made it a tradition to make my dad (aka, Mr. Christmas) to the market with me, as he’s all about Christmas (I can’t even begin to describe what his place looks like during Christmas time..just…Christmas on steroids). Here he is enjoying a nice cup of Cinnamon Spiced Cider.

You can also enjoy the Gluhwein (spiced red wine) or a nice selection of German beers (Weissbier).

There are a couple new places at the market, and some that are no longer at the market. There is a flatbread vendor that has their own wood burning oven right in the middle of the market – pretty cool. Also, this great dessert place that has a lot of tempting cakes – including of course, the Black Forest Cake.

Another new addition are these ridiculous sized pork hocks. It reminded me so much of Disneyworld – the price is a little bit more than Disneyworld ($14) – it gets you some bread and sauerkraut alongside this huge piece of pork!

I went with the Black Forest Deli and tried their Bratwurst with onions and sauerkraut ($8.55). It was definitely a mouthful to eat! I wish I added some mustard to it, to give it a bit of a kick. However, if that’s not your thing, then it’s fine the way it is.

Mary ordered a Schnitzel ($11-12). The portion is good for one person and looked crispy.

There are other places to visit as well including the bobbing wooden toys at the Toy Wonderland, endless rows of Steins, German candy from Candy Meister and even a corner for kids to decorate giant gingerbread men. There is also centre stage where great Christmas music is being played.
