Photo 12-29-2013, 3 40 06 PMThe holiday season is always filled with parties and get-togethers with friends, family and co-workers. I was heading to a friend’s Christmas party, so I decided to try out one of the recipes from a cookbook I was recently given, Vegan Desserts in Jars. I haven’t baked many vegan desserts, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to expand my repertoire. The cookbook contains instructions and recipes for several egg and dairy alternatives, so you can choose which alternative to use, in case you have particular tastes or other dietary restrictions. I flipped through the recipes, and decided to try out the Chocolate Babka Blossoms recipe.

Photo 12-29-2013, 2 11 52 PMThe recipe was simple and easy to follow. To make it vegan, the recipe called for non-dairy milk (I used almond milk) and margarine, both of which are common in every grocery store. I wasn’t able to follow the recipe exactly as written; because I didn’t have any little glass jars. I opted to put them all in a large glass baking pan instead, and it turned out just fine.
