Ladurée Vancouver, Canada

If there was a grandfather of the macaron shops, Ladurée would be it. It is now open here in Vancouver, Canada right on Robson street – making it Canada’s first Ladurée.

All these beautiful photos were taken by Nathalie de los Santos – please ask for her permission if you want to use these.

Ladurée Boutique and Tea Salon features much more than just macarons (although that is essentially what they’re known for) but they do offer viennoiseries, teas, jams and perfumed candles and home fragrances.

The boutique is small, with a seating area for about 16 people.

Ladurée Vancouver

Ladurée is the epitome of luxury originating from France in 1862. Typically named the world’s most delectable macarons – these macarons are exquisite from it’s ornate boxes to it’s flavours.

We tried six flavours, Ladurée has seasonal flavours and staples that have never changed in recipe.

The ones we tried were:
Chocolat (Chocolate)
The Marie-Antoinette (Marie Antoinette Tea)
Citron (Lemon)
L’Incroyable Guimauve Fraise Bonbon (Strawberry Candy “Guimauve”)
Cassis Violette (Blackcurrant Violet)
Fleur de Cerisier (Cherry Blossom)

My favourites were the Strawberry Candy one, Blackcurrant and the Marie Antoinette. The strawberry candy one reminded me of one of my favourite candies growing up, so it was a nice treat! Blackcurrant has a nice sweetness with a little tang to it that made it great. The Marie Antoinette is made with black tea and honey, and is perfect for a little afternoon tea!

The macarons are perfect (of course they are) – the crust is shell like and crispy – very dainty with perfecting footing but still soft, moist and chewy in the interior and the filling is very decadent! These macarons go for $3 per piece. If you want to go with a fancy box, they are extra.

The lineups are crazy since it’s opened – Nathalie and her friend Winnie lined up four shops down. Their food includes finger sandwiches, chocolates and madeleines. Their gifts include honey, key chains, candles, books and other luxury items.

This world class macaron shop is worth checking out – try to get there early so you don’t have to wait too long in line!
