This bubble tea craze isn’t dying anytime soon but it’s interesting to see the different spins on the Asian staple. At Tea Monarch in Richmond, they important their ingredients from Taiwan (the birthplace of bubble tea).

The space inside is certainly a nod to Vancouver, with exposed brick walls and warm wood surfaces – very reminiscent of Gastown.

You’ll find a variety of drinks (more focused on the tea aspect) ranging from milk teas to crema teas. This time, I stuck with the classic Oolong milk tea.

The flavour of the tea is more pronounced than most bubble tea places, which is great because I do love my teas. Overall, it’s a good place to stop and try milk teas if you’re more of a tea lover or can appreciate quality teas.
