During the past couple of weeks, my entire family has been in and out of town – my sister just got back from Germany, I’m just fresh off my Florida trip and my parents are leaving for Vegas this weekend. Which means this is the first Thanksgiving weekend we’ll spend sans my family.

However, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I will most likely be cooking some sort of meal here at my home – but probably not as ornate as my dad’s Thanksgiving meal. Since the meal will be a little more modern, I think it’s only fitting to serve some sort of great cocktail.

I couldn’t think of a better happy accident than getting an email to try out the Famous Grouse – which is blended Scotch whisky. This whisky has been the highest selling whisky in Scotland since 1980. When it arrived at my door step I was shocked to see I received an entire bottle – I thought it was going to be a tiny sample! Uhm..anyone want to come over for some whisky?

It also came complete with different drink recipes to try – but this one caught my eye: Famous Pumpkin Pie Martini. Pumpkin Pie and liquor together? Fantastic.

Here’s the recipe:

Famous Pumpkin Pie Martini
1 oz Famous Grouse Blended Scotch Whisky
4 tsp pumpkin pie filling
1 oz apple juice
0.5 oz half and half cream
0.25 oz maple syrup
2 dashes of cinnamon
nutmeg for garnish

1) Combine ingredients in a shaker tin with ice, shake vigorously and strain into a chilled Martini glass.

2) Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg.

I’m going to try this out this weekend as the ingredients are quite easy (and most of them I have already)!

Happy Thanksgiving friends!

Review Please note that I was sent a bottle of Famous Grouse to try for free.
